Dr Pepper Chicken

Brine the chicken for 12 hours. Remove, rinse, and pat dry.

Preheat smoker to 350°.

Apply rub to chicken, working under skin. Put 8 oz of room temperature Dr Pepper into the chicken throne and place bird on throne. Let sit for 30 minutes.

Put chicken in smoker. It will take approximately 2 hours to cook. Baste with the butter a couple of times during the cook.

Baste with the Dr Pepper BBQ sauce when the deepest part of the chicken is 150°. Cook until deepest part of chicken is 160°.

Let chicken rest 15 minutes before carving.
