Oven Cooked Ribs

These are in no way real smoked BBQ ribs, but if you just can't use the smoker, they're better than frozen pizza!

Ingredients

  • 1 c brown sugar
  • 3 T smoked paprika
  • 1 ½ T garlic powder
  • 1 ½ T onion powder
  • 1 T kosher salt
  • 1 t ground cumin
  • spare ribs (St. Louis cut)
  • BBQ sauce

Instructions

Mix first six ingredients for rub.

Rinse ribs and dry. Trim excess fat. Apply rub (at least ¼ c per rack).

Refrigerate overnight.

Take ribs out of cooler at ½ hour before cooking. Preheat oven to 225.

Wrap ribs in foil and place on sheet pan, bone side down. Cook for 3 hours.

Check for doneness (170 degress or it is easy to twist a rib bone).

Remove ribs from foil, lightly coat with BBQ sauce. Set oven to broil and carefully broil for 10 minutes or until sauce takes on some color.
