The doors I chose for my drum room are exterior metal-clad foam-core doors, with a metal sill and weather stripping. But the fact that the door is relatively light means that lots of sound is transmitted through it. So, i attached a piece of 5/8" drywall to the outside of each door using construction adhesive.
The drywall is wrapped in a piece of muslin. In color, it is very close to my ceiling and trim color. Here is a closeup.
So, by using the rock I've increased the door mass, which means a reduction in sound transmission. But at this point, I'm still relying on the weatherstrip against the light door. To stop sound at the edges, I needed to build up a door stop against the sheetrock. Here is a pic of the threshold stop. I made the stop run around all four sides of the door.
